I'm done with hiking for a while. My feet are all battered, my back hurts, I was smelling like a dead rat and yet it was all worth it! The weather in Mt Cook national park was just perfect for one day and I got to see some amazing views of Mt Cook, including the necessary pictures. After a day of rest I decided to go on a 2 day hike by myself and wow, did I underestimate the length and terrain. On the first day, I walked about 10 hours, stayed in the nicest little hut and then walked another 6 hours, before some friendly Brazilians hitched me a ride back to Tekapo. But now I treated myself to a nice dinner and it's 7pm and I'm ready to fall asleep!
